Food is the foundation of our health and wellbeing. We know that it can impact mood, energy, digestion, immunity and much more. Yet there’s such a myriad of different ideas and diets out there that it becomes confusing and complicated – even for practitioners!
Here, at tonika health, we aren’t into fad diets. We promote real, wholefoods. There’s no one size fits all – the same diet doesn’t work for everyone. And there’s no such thing as the ‘perfect diet’. It’s all about moderation (even moderation should be done in moderation!).
We understand that. And we understand that all the conflicting messages about food can be confusing and overwhelming. That’s why we feel so passionate about taking an individualised approach, and love to work with you, to help find the right foods for you. Education is powerful and transformative, and so is listening to your body. When you can better understand why you’re doing what you’re doing, and can feel the changes, it’s so much easier to make food choices that work for you and create long lasting change.
Our nutritionist, Nina, is particularly passionate about this. She will work with you to help you foster a happy healthy relationship with food. We also love that specific foods can be used therapeutically to support our bodies in certain ways. Papaya, for example, contains a certain enzyme that helps you better digest protein. And ginger is wonderful for nausea. We know the scientific and traditional evidence behind this information; and the specific preparation methods and doses needed to create such benefits in safe effective ways. We know when to, and when not to, prescribe certain foods depending on your unique situation. And we know that everyone is different, with different taste preferences and circumstances, so we work with you to create recommendations that are realistic and that you will enjoy.
